Years after finishing with the scouts, an older man I took camping for the first time used the phrases Boy Scout and Eagle Scout as terms of endearment while I built us a campfire, but I forcibly pushed the term out of my head as we moved onto necking in the tent, wanting very much not to be reminded of the Boy Scouts while I was with him.
