Always Happening

“Storm from Maximillien's” by Judith Skillman

I’ll even climb into the machinery with you.
Despite your unreadable gestures. I can almost
see from here how the trees lean in just so.

You are waving your arms in a relaxed manner.
We are both so small. The opening in the trees,
the house, the room, the furniture.

I nod periodically and without conviction and now
the trees are wet with rain. Whatever is happening
in the moment is what is always happening.
